Lots of work has been done on the layout. Working out levels so that the river will flow downhill. The harbour will meet with the high tide level and that there is enough depth for the canal is great fun
No, real water doesn't look right at this scale as the ripples etc would be full size. There will be artificial water. And ducks. And boats. And with luck a moving barge on the canal. It should be finished by the time the next grandchild is old enough to appreciate it. ❤
