It didn't rain at first this morning so I was able to excavate behind the summerhouse where the spoil from the ditch had been piled up.
But it didn't last. This is the view of the rain from the bench in the summerhouse porch....

What about the wind? Maybe global warming isn't the only cause of recent inclemency -- I recall the opening of Wordsworth's "Resolution and Independence" -- "There was a roaring in the wind all night/ The rain came heavily and fell in floods . . ." I love watching the summerhouse grow.
