A surfeit of lampreys.....

There are lampreys in the river just down from the house. A female has cleared a nest and has been laying eggs - two males are standing/swimming around and rush up to fertilise them.

Flower bed by terrace.

So. Farewell then E.J.Chickens.

The chickens have gone to a better place, up above. No not that one the other one, the people who live above us up the hill. They have a small flock already and had agreed to chickensit for us but it seems a better idea for the chicks to join their flock. They are taking the rabbits too - they have young children so the the rabbits will get played with everyday. Immie and Jack and Noah will be able to visit. And we will be able to go away for weekends without a load of palaver - we just have to arrange an Arthursitter. This weekend we are off for our first trip - two nights near Llanidloes. We have booked our next one too - a week near St David's Head.

Back to work.

A day spent weeding, planting, gravelling and starting on the terrace.

Flowers.

The sweet peas in the polytunnel have finished but the ones in the garden have started. And the marigolds from the tomato greenhouse are amazing.
Which is another way of saying no work done. Rain and visitors is my excuse.

Gone fishin'

First picnic in Rosie May

We went up to Lynn Brianne for lunch.

Courgettes - second time lucky.

The first lot all died but this second lot are doing well. As are the butternut squashes.

Rosie May has arrived.

No work will get done for a few days.

This is why the pond is where it is.

I knew that I would get some wonderful sunset shots. This is straight off the camera with no mucking about - who needs HDR?
