A quiet day......

Not much going on today. Most of the ground is still frozen solid but the veg and fruit beds are usable. So I dug some potatoes while I could and also planted 24 strawberry plants, a whitecurrant and two gooseberry bushes. Then off to the pub for our pensioners lunch - very ordinary mass-catering turkey etc. But good company and good beer. Now it has started snowing again and the temperature is back below freezing. Ho ho ho.

More work on the bridge.

Now it has bars to stop young folk from falling into the water. And it has a guardian!!

The bridge gargoyle.

The gargoyle is there to scare away any bridge trolls that try to live under the bridge.

'come home to a real fire'.....

Woodburning stove in place and working.

A nice fireplace.

This is a busy week. The woodburning stove is being fitted tomorrow so the old fireplace has to go. On Thursday we have the highlight of the social calendar - we go to the pensioner's dinner. 'Surely you aren't old enough Chris ' I can hear you say ' you certainly don't look old enough Chris '. You are quite right. I am going to lie about by age. And on Friday we are picking up Young Jack for the weekend. Busy busy.

Frame gone.

Nearly gone.

Gone.

The lathe still works!!

Work on the woodturning workshop continues. The lathe has survived its long break - seems fine just needed oiling.

This is what I am doing.

Workshop now closed off. New shelves etc. A place for everything and everything in its place. For now.

This is what the ground looks like.

Very untidy. I'd like it cleaned up now please.

Went out in the car today.

To order Christmas foods. Look at the temperature!!
