Before the rain....

Flowers are doing well with all this water.

But every cloud has a silver lining, more work on the layout.

Plaster bandage laid over the cardboard lattice.

Mowing and pruning.

The new bed is filling out nicely.

And the septic tank bed is in full flow...

What a day.

A late start after absorbing all the morning news.
The drain and path nearly completed.

And during the occasional rain shower work on the layout.

Mrs Tiggywinkle came to visit.

Or it may have been Mr Tiggywinkle.

Mixed weather.

A funny day, a mix of sunshine and showers so I have been in and out.
When I was out I was working on the new drain below the end wall. I have reduced the ground level and will put a French drain against the house.

When I was I was in I was working on the layout. In order to have something working when we have visitors later in the year I am building a section to complete the two circuits that are already working. This will make a complete layout that could go to the annual Show at the railway station and be removed when I want to complete the previous plan.

In the garden.

Several jobs got done over the last few days.
Now the bottom pond fills up I have cleared the grass around it.

The bushes have had a light pruning to keep them in shape.

And these are the first red hot pokers I have managed to grow. Second favourite if they thrive.

Yesterday....

was Bore Coffi and Train Club at the Station. Today was back to normal.
The veg bed is finished.

And then it was back to downsizing in the workshop. Here is a pretty picture instead.

Breakfast of champions.

Well, champion gardeners anyway. Home grown strawberries including wild red and white ones.

It has been wet off and on for several days so work has been intermittent, like the rain.

Replacing the rotted wood on the vegetable bed....

And working in the sheds to reduce the amount of 'stuff'.

Garden tasks.

A day of assorted garden jobs.
Deadheading the lupins takes quite a while.....

Look at the size of this flower spike!

Then I planted five shrubs that we had bought on our shopping trip to the big city (Carmarthen) on Friday.
We get a lot of cherries on one of our trees but the squirrels and birds have always eaten them all previously so this year I am trying to save a few for us!

Stormy weather.

Cutting the grass with a sense of impending doom. Or rain.

Pond life.

Symphony in yellow.

Yellow seems to predominate at the moment. Most of the yellow round the pond (and elsewhere) is the mimulus in flower. This all comes from one plant planted in the Rodborough garden many years ago. It transferred hee in the pot plants brought with us and has spread like crazy. But it is good at suppressing weeds!

Today I have been painting Windows which is very boring and not worth a photo.

Catch up.

Time has passed.
Lots of things have been done.
This bed got planted.

The bed where the plants were got tidied, composted and rotavated.

And then membraned to reduce weeding.

The old water feature bed got dug up, filled up.......

And planted.

Strawberries have been picked.

And there was even time to work on the layout.

Too hot, too hot.... ( Shakespeare quote )

Blimey it's hot. Never mind. The snow must go on.
More rabbit fencing, this time around a veg bed.

But also around the new flower bed prior to planting. ( Funnily, when I lifted one of the slabs that were to form the path through the middle of the bed I found the baby rabbit - the very reason why I was putting up the fence. It was under the big one.  )

Peace descends......

It is great fun having the grandchildren here...

But I think the sheep welcome the quiet when they have gone.

(Thanks to Ashling for the photos)
