Working.

Today was 'turn over the compost heap day'. Not everyone celebrates it but round here we like to join in.

The sheep enjoy eating the broom plants that I am trying to make a hedge out of. They reach through the fencing and tear off branches. So I have come up with a cunning plan to stop them. Chicken wire. We will see if it works!

Furry logs!

Some of the logs have an extraordinary coating of moss!

But they still get sawn up.

But the moss, when shredded in the blender, looks like a pretty good grass substitute for the layout.

I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok ...etc.etc.

Chainsawing logs - some of this is the tall pine we felled at Glyncoed and the rest is from the tree felling we did with Neville.

There is a rhyme about a child

That goes something like ' when she is good she is very, very good but when she is bad she is awful'. The weather here is a bit like that.

A good day to prune the apple trees.

And a little light scenery for relaxation.

Busy and engaged!

Busy.
We had a busy week with Helen, Steve, Immie and Jack for the weekend. Then Bella and the three boys during the week. Unfortunately both Kate and I came down with a tummy bug...

But this week we are much better! No gardening but a little light modelling.

Sheep may safely graze....

Well, cows can anyway. All fenced in.

Kindling for the woodburner all filled up.

First fine sunset for a while.

Thursday, February 11, 2016

Deep and crisp and uneven.

A bright frosty morning but the ground is still very soggy.

But undaunted Kate and I were able to get out and do some catch-up gardening.

More anti-rabbit defences have also been constructed around th rhubarb. Not that they were eating the rhubarb but they dig all around it and break the young crowns.

Signs of Spring...

Signs of a spring!

Not really.  Just puddles!

Fencing.

Back in The Shed.

Finally got the funicular running properly. It travels back and forth automatically now. All done with reed micro switches and relays.

And more scenery.

Monday, February 8, 2016

A glorious day.

Well, yesterday was. And we were at Meeting for most of the day. But we did get a splendid view of Penyfan and the Beacons.

Today was back in The Shed doing some electrics on the funicular and more scenery.

More scenery.

And the top station has been peopled - Judith is waving while Roger waits for the skier.

Grass, grass everywhere but not a drop to cut!

It's boggy out there as was obvious when I tried to bring logs over from the stables. I ended up pushing the tractor through the mud! The tractor is driving itself at this point having been pushed with the engine running.

But the grass on the layout is looking good as I have started doing the scenery.

A distressing day.

Distressing as in "I need to make these buildings look a bit old and careworn".

Don't ask about the weather.

Progress on the funicular..... And the terrace.

I did manage to get the sparrow terrace finished and put up before the rain/hail started.

Then it was back indoors.
