Where is all the snow? Only rain today.

Still sorting out in the workshop - just an excuse to stay indoors really!

Microwave repair man. Oh yeah.

The catch broke on the microwave so I took it apart. Partly.

As always it was a small plastic part that had snapped off. Fortunately I was able to put a bolt through the part and put it back together.

And it still works!

Planting bulbs

A break in the weather ( before the next lot arrives ) meant a chance to get out and plant bulbs - they were sprouting in their bags.
Daffs and anemones have gone in below the terrace, across the front of the new car park border and also in the courgette bed - these will be for cutting for the house. I am giving the courgette bed a rest year and will use the other vegs beds instead.

Every cloud...

Our neighbours, John 'Gog' and Vanessa, are moving down to the village so we are waiting to see who comes. But it means the eyesore caravan next to our not an eyesore caravan has gone.

Moving day.
I have moved the train layout from the garage to the playhouse/goatshed.

A workshop day.

Today was spring cleaning in the workshop sort of day. Amazing how things accumulate.

Ketchup oops sorry, Catchup

We have been inundated but fortunately by people not water or snow. We had five visitors for a long weekend so there was much drinking and eating and a certain amount of fixing laptops and ipads. But they have gone now and we can get back to normal. But not back to the garden which is still wet.
Today has been a Quaker website day but I did manage to do some work on the viaduct for the train layout.

Not a busy day....

Visitors today so no work, just clearing up the debris in the workshop and the garage, and hovering the layout to see progress.

Sometimes one has to work...

A proper job! Look no drips.... Other than the one under the sink!

But still time for play too.

A good occupation for a rainy day.

After last night's snow, rain soon followed. So an indoor task...

Enough snow to make a snowman!

But far too cold!

Snow!

It snowed today. For a few minutes. Then it went away. It is still lying up on the Mallaen and very nice it looks too.

More progress with Toy Town...

Getting the track fixed down now.

With apologies to Dylan ( and Duncton Wood )

Every morning when I wake,
Dear Lord, a little prayer I make,
O please protect our weary souls
And guard our lawn from pesky moles

It is wonderful to be able to look out of the bedroom window in the morning and not be confronted by more molehills!

Today....

Today I have been mainly cuddling Finnlay.

Noah and Joseph showed me how to build a proper train layout.

Yesterday

Yesterday was a train set day. Working out gradients and bridges. The start of the hillside/cliff too.

The wet weather continues.

All this damp has badly affected the stored butternut squashes! Nearly all gone now.

But the good bits still make wonderful soup.

Work progresses on the train layout.
Baseboard on complete with person hole which will be a removable section.

Layer of polystyrene to allow for a varied landscape.

And the start of the tunnel sections leading to the bridge.

A new grandson.

Bella and Anth have a new baby boy. Finnlay Owen Robert was born this morning weighing 8lbs 14ozs. Mother and baby are doing exceedingly well.

I have been working hard too!

Catch up.

Not a lot has been happening in the garden up to now - wet, cold and dark is not good for gardening.
Things did happen during the shutdown....
There was a family party in the Forest of Dean...

This was the galette that we took to share...
Immie and Jack were here off and on....they collected all the ice from the various buckets etc and tried to make an ice palace....
The moles finally got their comeuppance - or with moles is it a comedownance? Neville lent me his moleing kit and I caught three. I have levelled the hills and spread grass seed about.

Immie will be pleased to hear that the tractor is up and running again after a short period of battery charging.
Several vegetable beds have been rotavated.
A small amount of pruning has been done
and the compost heap has been turned.

The next big project ( to keep me quiet during the quiet time in the garden ) is a train layout complete with hills and tunnels and bridges. Immie helped me lay out the track to check that it was possible.
This is the layout in the track software.

And this is a 3d image of it.
