Weather report.

It is raining. Has been nearly all week. The good news is that the river Tywi is very full and fast flowing. This is good news because the kingfisher is back - it can't fish in the river when it is so full.

The sun has popped out.

I suspect it will to last long. But long enough to get out and do some gardening.

Thursday, December 3, 2015

A good idea is worth repeating.

Many, many, many years ago I made a model of West Kennett Long Barrow for a school project that Stephanine was doing. I decided that, given the ongoing rain situation, I would make a stone circle and burial tomb for the new layout.

The burial mound will be covered in grass that will lift off to show off the tomb underneath - the capstones lift off as well.

Catchup.

It's been a while. After the visitors there came the rain. So indoor work / modelling.  And an away day at the NEC for the National Train Exhibition. Some photos from the last few days.

If.......

If you can keep your leaves when all about you are losing theirs........

you stand more chance of getting blown over in the wind! The LiquidAmba still has all its leaves and is slowly turning but the very strong winds of the last few days have pushed it over. So stronger stakes and a prop are calls for.

Some more gardening got done too.

Not a gardening day!

Rain and strong wind.

So some clearing up in the polytunnel.

And major landscaping on the layout.

Gardening.

I have started the Autumn gardening - tidying up the  dying foliage.

The sheep were very impressed with the cuttings.

Somewhere...

Despite dodgy weather the power washing got finished today.
Before and after...

And some tunnelling ...

What a difference a day makes...

This morning the sun was out but we had a dentist appointment

This afternoon I was free but Storm Abigail is on us!

Rain didn't stop play but....

Today was 'Pressure Wash your paths day' so I did. At last, I started. I got about halfway through the job when the pressure washer gave up. So it wasn't 'Pressure Wash your paths day' after all.
Sorry, no pictures.
So I went and played trains instead.
Plastering the landscape.

Wet, wet, wet.

A wet day. Liuckily I had arranged to take some friends to see a model railway and coach collection.

Thursday, November 5, 2015

Even more ditching.

Despite light rain this morning I carried on with the strimming.

When it got too much I found a nice seat with a view.

This afternoon it poured so back to the trains.

There will be a spiral in the centre so a train can go up and down the hill in a loop.

More landscaping too.

Wednesday, November 4, 2015

Oh dear, it is raining!

Never mind, there are trains now!
Creating the landscape.

Tuesday, November 3, 2015

More ditching.

Now cleared the ditch by the bracken field.

More Autumn colours.

Monday, November 2, 2015

We're going on a mole hunt, going to catch a big one.....

There are big moles around here!

I shall try to discourage it.
More stream bank clearance.

But also some time fo trying out the track for the new layout.

Sunsets and visitors.

Roger and Judith are here enjoying a glorious sunset which now gets reflected in the pond again.

Autumn jobs.

It's that time of year again.

Some gardening..

Some work on the layout

And in the pond..... When I did all the work cleaning it I was disappointed not to see any fish and assumed the heron had had them all. But today I saw a shoal of about twenty black goldfish.
They don't show up well in photos.
