A cold day....

And that was in the polytunnel.
Finishing off clearing up after the ditchwork.

Beauty and the beast

Beautiful frost effect.....

(and if you are wondering why you can see a beast remember - barbed wire keeps the beasts away.)

In the ditch.

The annual ditch clearing is here again.

The afternoon was spent warming up and sorting out the network in the house. For the technically minded - I have put a cable from the router to the study where a reused adsl router is serving as a switch and also boosting the wifi in that room. There is now a wifi extender in the guest bedroom which strengthens the wifi at that end of the house. And the homeplug is now in the conservatory to boost wifi there. Do you get the impression that we are all spending far too much time using wifi devices?

Stormy weather.

Thursday and Friday were very wet and windy. The small hawthorn snapped off at the base - it was poorly. Much worse now!

But after a storm....

The goat shed is all ready for next weekend's visitors.

I know it should be Bella's Zoo but I thought the farm was more appropriate.

Slow progress on the goatshed

Taking some time to finish the decorating. So here are some lettuce that are growing well - not edible now but looking good.

and more sweet beetroot chutney - mainly because the beetroots needed using rather than any love of beetroot chutney.

Sweet beetroot chutney with oranges and apples.

Roof finished.

Apart from painting which will have to wait for a hot, dry spell.

Now working inside to repair the water damage.

Progress on the goat shed roof.

The forecast was for no rain for a few days so time to get on a hot tin roof.

Autumn raspberries

Path in the fruit cage.

And then I walked down to the local chapel for the funeral of Buddug (pronounced Beethig), who lived on a neighbouring farm. About two hundred people attended a very moving (entirely Welsh) service.

What a morning.

Just right for a late bonfire night...... Or afternoon.

Nice Movember Steve.

He's been famed!

Catch up.

Moving grass from where we don't want it to where we do want it.

And then we had Kate's cousin Walter came to stay for a day. He is compiling a very large family tree and was collecting information.

The deck has gone onto the new footbridge so we can all trip trap across it now.

And now James is here for a few days and Helen and Steve, Immie and Jack due here this evening too.

Putting down more weed control membrane.

The bean poles now have membrane to try and cut down on the amount of weeds.

And looking at another project. A pergola beside the conservatory.

This section of stone wall gets very wet and cold and doesn't get the sun on it to dry it out so we are thinking of ways to shelter it.

Cutting the grass.

A fine, bright day so ideal for cutting the grass with the new mower. It works a treat.
One of the next projects is replacing the corrugated steel ( was it ever made of iron?) on the goat shed roof. Visitors - you have been warned!

Winter is approaching.

A light dusting of snow on the tops today.

And a beautiful light on the rowan tree.

A better day.

The weather has improved so back to gardening. Weeding and pruning. Very boring. So here are some lupins instead.

They are amazing. They have flowered constantly all year - sorry Judith. They were cut back a few weeks ago and have clogged again, as they say in Yorkshire.
And a new toy has arrived.

Not a toy at all but a very serious piece of engineering.
