A wet day. A very wet day.

So time for clearing up the workshop.

I am sure someone goes in there and makes the mess when I am not looking.

Still raining so nothing to do but go and plan the next holiday.

A gardening day.

A day of emptying the compost bins, preparing vegetable beds and weeding. Plenty of worms in the compost.

And plenty of strawberries on this plant. It is just inside the pollytunnel where grandchildren can find it easily. But none here so I have to eat them.

I will divide the plant up when it stops fruiting so plants will be available to visitors.

Progress on the path.

It was also a wonderful sunset sky tonight.

By the way...Friday was spent at the National Library of Wales getting a guided tour and also starting research for the Farm and Field Names project that I am involved with. So I wasn't slacking.

Monday. Progress on the ditch.

I like it when things work out the way I planned. Using the soil from the path to grade the bank.

These are the 60th trees showing why I chose them!

Progress on the footbridge.

I have created a rough dam from willow and alder logs and plugged it with clay to create a pool/bog. This is planted with irises and polygonum. With luck the logs will root and we should end up with a nice area to walk through on the footbridge. All we need now is the timber for the bridge deck.
The area where the wood for the bridge was stacked has now been strimmed and will get grassed over eventually.

The last of the vegetables have been gathered in and turned into a mass batch of vegetables in tomato sauce.

Spring is in the air...

Plants for next year have arrived in the post.

Progress on the bridge.

There's a hole in my waders dear Liza, dear Liza.

I have sprung a leak so can't work in deep water till the repair kit arrives. ( mind you with the amount of rain we have had we will be completely under water soon).
So working on the footbridge.

Working in the ditch.

Grass from the sides grows across the water and I spend too much time clearing it up so I am cutting the bank back and putting an edging in.

Catch up time.

It has rained a lot so not much work has been done.... However Steve and Sally came for the weekend and brought the sunshine with them so we got out a bit.
This was a trip to Dinefwr Castle.
and this was a walk along the roads behind the village. Today it is raining again.... so I have uploaded some holiday photos to the photo site. http://cghr.co.uk/united-kingdom/france-september-2012 If you click on the first one you will get an enlargement then you can click the arrows to move to the next.

A day of tidying up.

Finishing in the pond.

And planting out sweet williams and wall flowers.

Monday, October 8, 2012

Tidying up the pond.

The bed at the edge of the pond kept filling up with grass and buttercups so needed to be dug out and re-done.

Sunday, October 7, 2012

First frost.

Jack and Immie have a new favourite tree. Ideal for climbing.

Friday, October 5, 2012

Working on the ditch.....

or the linear pond as I call it. Now that the willow has gone the top end near the bridge is very visible from the house so needs to be tidied up.

Progress ....

It is summer!

Blue skies and very little rain.
The last tree has gone.

More vegs.

And the start of the next project...... A bridge down at the bottom of the bracken field.

Two down, one to go.

We have started the pickled onions. Lovely.

We will need to hide them from Miss Imogen Sophie Williams!

What a difference a chainsaw makes.

Three trees have got red crosses on them. The plum that fell apart a few years ago has not thrived; one of the apple trees has seriously bad canker; and the willow by the pond is just plain wrong.

So I have started with the willow.

You can see what a big difference it makes.
