Busy busy

I am recovering all my old IT skills on Helen's laptop and desktop!
So Helen and Kate and the children have been working out in the fields.
Gleaming the remnants of haymaking...

And picking stones out of the new grass.

There has been much wildlife around....

A long tailed field mouse found in the seed bin.

And a frog.

and Immie found a swallow egg ( but she didn't swallow it)

and Immie took some photos of the garden

Bright lights, big city!!

We went to Brecon for some shopping. Coo what big shops!
Now we have visitors.

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

Too many magpies.

We have a bevy of magpies hanging around at the moment. Two adults and four young two of which are still begging for food. Very loudly.

Bailing

Neil has bailed all the hay now.

And the second coat is on the house.

Monday, July 23, 2012

The hay is drying nicely

and the grass has been cut too.

Saturday, July 21, 2012

Making hay.

At last the weather is good enough to cut the fields.

First coat

of sandtex.

Minding my peas

Time to harvest the peas in the tunnel. Somehow I don't think it is worth all the effort when BirdsEye do such a good job!

More wildlife..

This young female sparrowhawk dropped in to the garden today. She looked around then pounced on a sparrow. And some foliage. She must like salad with her meal!

Some photos from Bella , Noah and Joseph's visit.

Just when you thought life couldn't get more exciting...

As I walked down to the polytunnel this morning I spotted this buzzard on the grass. He/she appears to have a damaged leg but has hopped onto a fence post for some r&r.

A new visitor

A moorhen has taken to the pond. It arrives early morning (three or four o-clock) with much 'peep'ing and then settles in. It is quite timid and hides if there is movement in the conservatory. A welcome addition - aprt from the three o-clock thing.

Visitors!

Bella, Anth, Noah and Joseph.

Glass all leaded now.

Just the spot soldering to do.

Friday, July 6, 2012

It is raining again.

But not as bad as was threatened. For us anyway.
So back to the glass.

Due to a technical hitch (the soldering iron gave up the ghost) I have switched from Tiffany style ( copper foil and masses of soldering) to leaded style ( lead strips with soldered joints).

Summer is here.

Well a dry day at least.

So more painting and cutting the

grass.

Indoor job.

It was supposed to rain today so I started an indoor job. So if course it didn't rain. Hohum.
I have started a stained glass panel to replace a plain glass panel on the front door. Kate has designed it to incorporate a mill to add credence to the house name.

Gardening in the rain is no fun..

but it has to be done. Tidying up for the visitors. I just hope they bring the sun with them. Mind you at least we don't have any flooding here.
