Waiting for supplies so off to the lathe.

A walk in Cwm Rhaeadr Forest.

We walked up past the bottom of the fall, round by the Scout barn, up on to the Mallaen and then down to the lane past Glyncoed.

Amazing patterns in the puddles

Remains of last autumn still visible in the puddles too.

Frog spawn. In January!!!

I must remember to take the lens hood with me!

A group of long-tailed tits.

Snowdrops near Glyncoed.

A wet day......

Wet paint on the bench, wet compound on the floor and wet from the sky too. But a pleasant sunset.

The blue rose bench.

I found some very nice blue epoxy paint on the shelf left by the previous owner. Perfick.

A sad story.....

We found these bench ends buried in the undergrowth and I thought it would be nice to make them back into a bench. They are very heavy cast iron and I had thought that they were Victorian or Edwardian.

So I cleaned them up with a wire brush then I jet washed them.

and they came up very nice. But in cleaning them I found a manufacturers mark.

Not antique then. More likely 1970's B&Q. Never mind it will still make a comfy chair.

Yay. We have our very own hook-up!

and it's out with the black paint again.

A weekend off.

Well doing something different.
The www.cilycwm.com site is now live.

And I have revised my photo site too. Www.cghr.co.uk

If you spot a similarity it is because I have used the same software to create the sites. Thank you WordPress.

Progress on the garage doors.

They don't look any different. But you can see the old doors leaning up at the side so they must be new.

Monday, January 16, 2012

One down, one to go.

That was the easy side. Tomorrow it's the more difficult electric up and over.

Just to set the record straight....

I haven't been working on the garage this weekend - it was a trick. I gatecrashed a family get-together and spent the day reminiscing about the good old days with them - listening to sixties music and looking at photo albums. Great fun.
But now I really am going to get on with the garage. Honest.

A good day to do garage doors.

Cold but dry. Time to remove the old doors ready for tomorrow.

Saturday, January 14, 2012

Brrrr. Too cold. Back to bed.

Not really. Busy weekend. Garage doors. It is good that it is frosty - it will kill off things that should have died months ago. Like flies. And algae.

Friday, January 13, 2012

Busy, busy, busy.

Not really. Sorting out cupboards.

But the new doors for the garage arrive early on Monday so then I will really be busy!

Drying out.

The ground that is not me. Back to landscaping the slope.

The next big job is the garage doors. We patched them when we arrived and have stuck them back together several times since. So now new doors ordered - steel up and over for the garage (powered!!) and steel side hung for the workshop - and the old doors will be re-cycled into the goat shed. Say goodbye to the old ones.....

It's early doors for the late doors.

Now that's what I call geeky 2012

Three screens. Working on the www.cilycwm.com website. Going live shortly. Probably.

A walk.

This afternoon we walked up the hill behind us to see the view and feel the cold air in our lungs.

The sun shone today.

We recognised it from last year. It was so nice we went to Brecon so no work got done. What a life!

Sormy weather since my man and me etc etc

The wind both blow but mainly it rains. I might need to build and ark soon!

I will huff and I will puff

and I will blow your house down. Fortunately we are a stone house and we are still standing. But it sounded like a close thing!! Wow what a storm. Blowing a gale and when the bedroom is in the roof you certainly hear every puff. I can't wait to go out and see if there are any more trees down - not ours but locally several came down the other night.

Goldfinch and Siskin at the feeder

The siskins are coming regularly now - three at most. Lovely birds but very bossy!
