A walk in Cwm Rhaeadr Forest.
We walked up past the bottom of the fall, round by the Scout barn, up on to the Mallaen and then down to the lane past Glyncoed.
Amazing patterns in the puddles
Remains of last autumn still visible in the puddles too.
Frog spawn. In January!!!
I must remember to take the lens hood with me!
A group of long-tailed tits.
Snowdrops near Glyncoed.

A sad story.....
We found these bench ends buried in the undergrowth and I thought it would be nice to make them back into a bench. They are very heavy cast iron and I had thought that they were Victorian or Edwardian.
So I cleaned them up with a wire brush then I jet washed them.
and they came up very nice. But in cleaning them I found a manufacturers mark.
Not antique then. More likely 1970's B&Q. Never mind it will still make a comfy chair.

Progress on the garage doors.
Monday, January 16, 2012
Just to set the record straight....
I haven't been working on the garage this weekend - it was a trick. I gatecrashed a family get-together and spent the day reminiscing about the good old days with them - listening to sixties music and looking at photo albums. Great fun.
But now I really am going to get on with the garage. Honest.

Drying out.
The ground that is not me. Back to landscaping the slope.
The next big job is the garage doors. We patched them when we arrived and have stuck them back together several times since. So now new doors ordered - steel up and over for the garage (powered!!) and steel side hung for the workshop - and the old doors will be re-cycled into the goat shed. Say goodbye to the old ones.....
It's early doors for the late doors.

The sun shone today.
We recognised it from last year. It was so nice we went to Brecon so no work got done. What a life!

I will huff and I will puff
and I will blow your house down. Fortunately we are a stone house and we are still standing. But it sounded like a close thing!! Wow what a storm. Blowing a gale and when the bedroom is in the roof you certainly hear every puff. I can't wait to go out and see if there are any more trees down - not ours but locally several came down the other night.
