No progress!

It has been wet and I have been poorly with a Male Acquired Non Faked Lethargic Unwellness. But the rain keeps coming....

Can you tell what is yet?

I am thinking of writing a book about it, just like Uncle Peter's....

Every cloud has a silver lining.

It is still raining. Has been for days and days.
But. The rain fills the river so it is very fast and then the kingfisher can't fish there so he comes to our pond. Several times a day and usually at mealtimes. So I can sit and eat and stare at the best looking bird in Wales. And the kingfisher too.

How long is a cubit?

1 cubit equals 45.72 centimetres. Which is good to know if you are building an ark!

Still wet.

But we have ordered a new bathroom suite to replace the failing components in the upstairs bathroom. A job for the New Year.

Bleak midwinter.

Too cold to stay out for long.
December is a lean month....

but not leaning this much. The wind has blown it sideways.. A quick fix till the spring...

The sheep are back.

Neville has brought some sheep down to paddock so the scenery is complete again.

And Arthur's quiet birthday turned into quite a party when Glenys and Gunstan and Audrey called in with cards and stopped for lunch.

How nice.....

What a day. Lunch of roast lamb from Neville the builder. Afternoon sat side by side both doing stuff on the computers. Then Nine Lessons and Carols at the local church where we knew at least half of the congregation - and the church was nearly full. Odd to hear well known carols in Welsh and to read along with the Welsh readings.

Everybody is helping.

Working on the waterway down in the goose field. It gets overgrown with grass each year so the the plan is to put a stone edging to stop the grass growing into the water.

Planting bulbs.

We planted hundreds of daffodils and snowdrops on the slope below the terrace. Bella got cold feet - literally not figuratively.

Before

After

Then we dug a drainage ditch in the pig field.

Visitors.

Bella and Anth with Noah and Joseph are here.

Happy days.

More work on the waterways. This is what it is like before I start.

And after.

And then some good old PC work changing the power supply.

A cold day....

And that was in the polytunnel.
Finishing off clearing up after the ditchwork.

Beauty and the beast

Beautiful frost effect.....

(and if you are wondering why you can see a beast remember - barbed wire keeps the beasts away.)

In the ditch.

The annual ditch clearing is here again.

The afternoon was spent warming up and sorting out the network in the house. For the technically minded - I have put a cable from the router to the study where a reused adsl router is serving as a switch and also boosting the wifi in that room. There is now a wifi extender in the guest bedroom which strengthens the wifi at that end of the house. And the homeplug is now in the conservatory to boost wifi there. Do you get the impression that we are all spending far too much time using wifi devices?

Stormy weather.

Thursday and Friday were very wet and windy. The small hawthorn snapped off at the base - it was poorly. Much worse now!

But after a storm....

The goat shed is all ready for next weekend's visitors.

I know it should be Bella's Zoo but I thought the farm was more appropriate.
