James has arrived for a few days. Jack and Immie are enjoying his presence.

They are moving home eventually and we are going to childmind next week. I have been planting stuff and sitting on the pond bench with Jack.

Today became another day off -almost.

Proper stormy weather so we went to Brecon to order the flooring for the conservatory - well, it is bound to be finished eventually!

Today is our first anniversary.

We have been here one year and ' it don't seem a day too long '. But it is raining quite hard so shopping in Brecon rather than getting on with it.

We went to visit some local friends who had offered us some plants. I had to dig them up and climb into their pond but very worthwhile. Then after lunch a walk in Cwm Rhaeder.

First orchid we have seen here.

makes the grass grow faster.

We have put in a pipe to take the rainwater from all the roofs to the pond. It should mean we don't have to top it up so often. If it rains.

A day of dodging rain.....

but flowers got planted and work got done in the greenhouses. The first of the sweet peas were picked and more strawberries.

Not much done today. Expecting Fran and Julie shortly so had to tidy up.

Desirable waterside residence. Suitable for young ducks etc.

Last year a family of ducklings hid out by the pond. We are hoping they might come back and make use of this shelter under the walkway.

Among other things I have been getting on with the walkway. We are planning to put a platform underneath in the hope that ducks might find or a suitable hideaway.

Great News!!!

A pair of Mallard landed on the pond today to investigate. There is nowhere safe for them to nest yet but at least they have found us.

 

The fencers have been in.

We got the men who have been doing the bottom fence to come in and do a new fence and hang some new gates.

The boggy patch in front of the gateway has been dug out and is waiting to be levelled with gravel.

A busy day with the chainsaw.

Clearing more trees. We are going to leave more of the big trunks for climbing purposes. Makes my life easier and we can saw them up in a few years.
