Today was a good day for toys. I mean tools. The new tractor / lawnmower arrived.

and the new cooker arrived. And we have had our first meal cooked on it.

The Softlink Memorial Polytunnel project.

Pete at Softlink is buying us a polytunnel as a thank you for the many years I went there and especially for the odd days when I worked really hard. This is the site for the tunnel - it needs some attention(!) but will be ideal for light, water and convenience. Watch this space for further progress.

Another shed bites the dust. Or rather goes up in smoke. This rotted building was offending the view so had to be removed.

This is what we do in Wales when it is blisteringly hot and the roads are melting - we invite the neighbours round and have a bonfire!

Neil came back today to bale the hay. Good old fashioned proper bales - none of this plastic wrapped stuff!!

Today I tackled the bedroom wall. This is the first part removed.

As a certain young man used to say '"g'all gone".

Today I have started doing a 'Dibley' on the two small bedrooms. (come on people keep up. 'dibley' wedding. When two become one!!)

We are making a big double bed room rather than two small singles. For us as it has the best view. This is the room on the right.

And this is the room on the left.

This is the wall that will go. Tomorrow.

So far we have a door.

The chicken house is poop free and as yet, unused.

This is a landmark picture. It shows Neil ( the farmer from the next farm up the road) cutting hay on our two fields.

And overhead two red kites are watching and waiting - ready to zoom down to catch insects that fly up to escape the cutter. Magic.

Today i decided to tackle the fish pond. This was obviously lovely once but five years of neglect it is very overgrown.

So the tree had to go.

And the wooden pergola had to be moved to the top of the lawn.

And this is how it ended up.

This is today's progress on the water feature. Under all the grass and buttercups was a pump. So with a replacement liner and some sand and cement the water will flow again.

Fresh eggs and rocket from the greenhouse. Is this the good life or what?

For the last couple of days I have been sorting out the utilityroom - too boring to photograph. But I have also been working on the garden trying to recover what seems to be a water feature. A circular arrangement of stones with a herb bed behind it. I will reinstate the water once I have got rid of the encroaching grass and mint.

and then I shall try to work out what this odd arrangement is all about.

Oh my!! Just when you think everything is perfect it goes and gets better!! A kingfisher has visited the duck pond twice today. There are no fish in there but he was having a good look. Sadly no photo.

I promise that tomorrow I will tell you how horrible it is here but today I can't help going on about how lovely it is. We took the day off and walked to a pub three miles away. We had coffee with one neighbour on the way there and had tea with another neighbour on the way back. Walking beside the Towy most of the way.

And we found this lovely rapid by a quiet spot. Ideal for a picnic.

Another glorious day with hardly a cloud in the sky. I was in the kitchen doing the splashbacks. But tomorrow has been declared an official day off. Hooray.

Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a ...... Etc. Etc. This is the view from our bedroom window on this fine Welsh morning.

Today I have been creating a workshop in the garage. Moving all the stuff about to get the right things in the right place. I even managed to set up the lathe.

And this is the half with surplus stuff in it.

We have found two abandoned goose eggs in one of the paddocks.

And this is a goose egg beside a chicken egg for comparison.

Yesterday I made up the wall cupboards and managed to get them to stay up. So far!

A typical Welsh day - twelve hours of sunshine. Will it always be like this? I spent the day in the kitchen - the sink now works, the kickboards are on and the first cupboard is up! Not much more to do.

I have discovered that I can edit the time of posts so when I post more than one image I can edit them into more of a storyline. In future I must remember to post the last post first...

I was supposed to spend the day doing the worktops in the kitchen and they did get done eventually but the sun shone so......

I planted some water plants in the duck pond to see if they survived

I went and looked at our daisy patch

I strimmed a square to see where the poly tunnel might go

I strimmed the old vegetable patch and discovered the remains of raised beds. Lost garden of dolittle!!

And now I am just sat watching the sun go down.

The end of another day (good grief we have only been here two weeks).

Today's gardening was strimming the area around the chicken shed so we can think about getting it back in use. At the moment the chickens are roosting in the goat shed.

The kitchen is coming on but every time the sun shines I go outside and do some 'gardening'

Feeding time at Dolittle. Even on Kate's birthday and in the rain the flock must be fed.

The kitchen has gone. It is food cooked on the camping stove for a while.
